An introduction to Adult Stem Cells

I'm sure you've already heard about Stem Cells. Maybe you saw a news story or a read a news article or saw the Presidential address. They are the most widely publicized scientific discovery today and with good reason. How about Embryonic Stem Cells? They have created a great deal of controversy and with good reason. The lure of what Embryonic Stem Cells can do for our health has led to ethical issues surrounding such things as embryo harvesting. One thing remains, Stem Cells represent the future of Health and Wellness as we know it. And they are here to stay.
So what are they?
Stem Cells are master cells, meaning that they can generate many, if not all, of the different tissues of the body. They are with us our entire lives and are released naturally from the bone marrow, but like everything else, the process behind their release slows down with age. When there aren't as many stem cells in the blood stream, the body can't repair and renew itself as it once did. These master cells are still contained in the bone marrow in the millions, just not being released as they should.
As this natural release occurs we need to concern ourselves with finding ways to reverse it. The good news is there are 4 things we can do.
Exercise - as we already know, regular exercise is vital to good health
Proper breathing - deep breathing oxygenates the blood and tissues
Good Nutrition - we need nutrients to nourish and water to flush toxins from our cells

Stem Cells are the only known source for rebuilding the body and renewing health by restoring lost or degraded cells. They have already been used to help treat things such as Leukemia, AIDS, Alzheimer's Disease and multiple sclerosis.
They have been used to form new cartilage, grow new corneas to restore sight to the blind, as treatments for stroke victims, and several groups are using adult stem cells with patients to repair damage after heart attacks.
Early clinical trials have also shown initial success in patient treatments for Parkinson’s disease and spinal cord injury. And, the first FDA-approved trial to treat juvenile diabetes in human patients is ready to begin at Harvard Medical School, using adult stem cells.
In short, they are the building blocks of life itself.
Adult versus Embryonic Stem Cells.
Adult Stem Cells is the term given to stem cells after birth which means babies have adult stem cells in their bodies. Embryonic stem cells are simply those from embryos -- undifferentiated, or not developed into a specific cell types. Research has shown that embryonic stem cells can develop genetic abnormalities. This is not the case with our own adult stem cells.
For this reason, researchers such as Kursad Turksen in his book 'Adult Stem Cells' offer the following wisdom: “Adult stem cell biology is at the forefront of the emerging field of regenerative medicine, offering a source of cells to generate tissues that lack some of the ethical and political impediments inherent in embryonic, fetal, and cloned cells.”
The biggest advantage of using adult stem cells is that the body's own stem cells can be used, effectively removing the problems of immune rejection or abnormalities.

Body Building Nutrition
Nutrition in body building is very important for anyone serious about the sport. Good nutrition is essential for a healthy life, but it is most important for a body builder to have effective workouts and grow muscles quickly and efficiently. What type of nutrition should you have to become successful in your body building quest?
You need to first have a diet that is high in protein. That means eating a lot of chicken, fish, and meat. Chicken and fish are best for you because of their low fat content. Complex carbohydrates are the best carbs to take in. These can be found in foods such as whole grain rice, whole grain breads, and pasta. Be sure to take your carbohydrates with protein for maximum efficiency.
Fats are also very important in body building nutrition. Believe it or not, fats actually do good in our bodies providing insulation for body parts like the heart and lungs as well as making energy when the fats break down. Of course, you will want to consume the good fats as opposed to the bad ones so that you don’t gain weight through fat intake.
Saturated fats are the worst fats to take in. These are fats like animal lard and butter. Saturated fats are those that stay solid at room temperature. Unsaturated fats are the “good fats”, but they also should be consumed in moderation. Olive oil and flaxseed oil are good unsaturated fats. They stay liquid when at room temperature.
A very important fat group that can help both your body and mind are Omega 3 fatty acids that are found in fish. Omega 3 fatty acids are known to combat depression, fend off fatigue, and give you energy you need to workout.
You should also include a lot of fresh vegetables in your diet. Foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots give you many vitamins and minerals that are necessary for a healthy body. Fruit should be consumed in moderation as they naturally contain a certain amount of sugar naturally. Too much sugar can hinder your progress.
In the sport of body building, nutrition is just as important as lifting weights and exercising. Getting good nutrition is essential for an effective body building routine. Eat what’s good for you and what your body needs without over-indulging too much. Then sit back and watch your body grow!

This famously large demographic is approaching retirement age, which inevitably includes some wrinkles and sagging. Some baby boomers are choosing to spend their money on cosmetic procedures. USA Today reported that many baby boomers adhere to active and fit lifestyles, and, for some of them, this includes seeking to maintain youthful appearance. It is about wanting to look as young and vigorous as they feel.
Because there are so many baby boomers, their growing interest in plastic surgery is one element driving the rise in visits to plastic surgeons. The generation that once dominated the youth culture still wants to look young. And when they have areas of unwanted fat, they are willing to go for Beverly Hills liposuction.
Aside from the aging population, there is another factor behind the popularity of plastic surgery.
